Shinjuku City plans to open special needs classes for autism and emotional disorders at Tenjin Elementary and Shinjuku Junior High School in April 2027, and Tsurumaki Elementary in April 2028. These small-group classes (up to 8 students per class) are for children without intellectual disabilities who have autism or conditions like selective mutism. Applications for school consultation are accepted from April 1 to September 30, 2026, and briefings for guardians will also be held.
